I never grew up being a reader. However, I got addicted. Here’s how.
I must have read more than 100 books by now. Here are the 5 books that changed my life completely:
1. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success — Deepak Chopra
It made me ask myself: “If money was no concern and you had all the time and money in the world, what would you do?”
The answer was pretty simple. Since 2016, I have passionately motivated people to work out and stay fit. My aim was to help them experience the holistic benefits of exercise — not just for physical health, but for mental well-being and a fulfilling life.
2. Atomic Habits — James Clear
I loved working out, but once I achieved my targets, I would get bored. I would start slacking. This book taught me to do the boring stuff each day, every day, with the simple mantra of ‘Never Miss Twice.’
3. Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight — Rujuta Diwekar
This book repaired my relationship with rice and desserts. It offered a deeper understanding of the fundamental elements of nutrition in a fitness journey, transforming my approach to diet and health forever.
4. Autobiography of a Yogi — Paramhansa Yogananda
Damnnnn this book!!! It took me three attempts to finish it, but it was worth every minute spent. In hindsight, it felt like it tested me to see if I was ready for it. It restored and even multiplied my faith in the Divine and nudged me in the right direction.
5. The Secret — Rhonda Byrne
As cliché as it may sound, this book always helped me take a U-turn from rock bottom. Every single time.
Disclaimer: I don’t align completely with this book, but I also know it has some life-revolutionizing properties.
I know for a fact now, that every book comes into your life at the exact time that it’s meant for you. I recently read a book The Millionaire Fastlane. I had it since 2014 but now is when I read it. And now is when it’s actually making sense to me.
If you ever get this gut feeling while looking at a book, “Maybe I should read this book,” don’t doubt it at all. Just go sync up with it.
Likewise, if a book is not keeping you wanting more, drop it and go find your book of the season.
The other 5 books that transformed me a bit more are:
1. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
2. The $100 Million Offers
3. Steal Like an Artist
4. Shrimad Bhagavatam
5. The Cursive Writing Book
About this in part 2…
Absolutely resonate with what you said about books showing up in our lives at a time when they’re meant for us. I too had a somewhat surreal experience while reading The Autobiography of a Yogi. Thank you for sharing your list of your enriching favourites — have added a few to my TBR! ❤️
